My name is René Grothmann. I have learned Bridge 50 years ago from expert players. In spite of some success on the club level, I wasn't really an outstanding player, and maybe I'm still not. Unfortunately, I then took a 40 year hiatus in Bridge, concentrating on other things. Playing only rarely is not a good way to improve. You need a good partnership and regular play to advance, plus time and will to go to tournaments.
At least, it is now possible to play online, even if you have no inspiring partner. Especially IntoBridge was the server that I liked the most. Even though you play with their robot Lia, you can enjoy to be compared against other players. There is a rank system and daily hands against a celebrity. You can also create free tables and use them for teaching. Subscribed players can talk and use the webcam. Subscription is a moderate monthly payment. There are other options with a wider user base, like BBO and Fun Bridge, but I found IntoBridge to be the most pleasant for me.
This blog is mainly for my own. These days, people do not read blocks anymore. They watch videos. But I enjoy writing here every now and then.
